Symptom:
XbpComboBox does not work properly with manifest file
Description: 
Using XbpComboBox objects of type XBPCOMBO_DROPDOWN(LIST), attempting
to navigate entries of the drop-down list via the vertical scrollbar
may not work as expected. Clicking one of the arrow buttons with the
mouse sometimes causes the drop-down list to close before an item
was actually selected.

This occurs on Windows XP systems, and the application is executed
with a manifest file present or linked into the application.
Solution: 
A fix for this problem is available via Public Fix Level (PFL)

Don't use a manifest file with your applications.
