Symptom:
CDXDBE crashes when appending records with open index
Description: 
Appending records with an open index raises OS error 1 if
the DB is opened exclusive. The error does not occur at the very
beginning but after having appended several records already.
The more tags are included the earlier the error occur.
Solution: 
Open the database in shared mode!
Append the records and open the index file after appending the
records.
